I did a short write-up on why you need a personal website, and I also spoke about how to go about getting a quick one for yourself which you can find here. However now, we are going to talk about what it means for your business. First of all, you might be wondering, is a website necessary for your business? I’ll save you some thinking time- you certainly do. Most people don’t want to go into the website thing yet because most of the time, they think it is not necessary, or too expensive, or needs deep technical knowledge of the internet, etc. But in recent times, you don’t need soo much money to run a website, you definitely do not need a professional (if you cannot afford one, but if you can, it won’t hurt either), and you most certainly don’t need to be a programmer and stuff to get a website for your business.
If you are still unsure about this, let me give you a few reasons why you might need a website:
1. Grab a share of the ”Online pie”:
As a business, the sole aim of your existence is to generate profit for value. On the internet, there are thousands of people looking for all manner of things. Just today, there have been 283,133,858 searches on google (via internet live stats) some of these searches will be related to what you have to offer, at least one of them will land mysteriously on your website, and might even make a purchase. The point is the internet is the greatest marketplace in the world, no market offers as much promise as the internet. Social media is good but its reach or effect will not be that of a website.
2. Create a Connection:
Having a website gives you the opportunity to answer questions a lot faster without even having to really answer. A business website will contain some answers to some of the questions customers need when they are at the consideration stage. questions like ”Who are you?, What do you do? When are you open? When can we call? Where are you located? etc are answered almost as immediately as someone lands on your site, because such information is readily there waiting for them, and it is now left for any visitors to want to establish trust.
3. Establish trust:
A person will always trust a business better if they can find a website for that business on the internet. A website is also a display centre, a form of a portfolio for showcasing previous work done, and showcasing customer reviews, as 84% of people trust online reviews as much as they would trust a friend. With that being said a website gives new viewers, or people who are still getting acquainted with you a sense of human connection and trust as ”trust is a good business practise”- Jim Blasingame.
4. Make quick transactions:
You don’t need to see many of your customers online if you have created a connection and they trust you, they will patronize you online. Using a website is a more secure and very fast way of concluding business transactions in the modern-day. Payment platforms, maps, and entire stores can be integrated into your business website for quick and reliable transactions. In 2019, 1.92 Billion people purchased online, and your business could partake in the figures to come.
HOW TO CREATE A BUSINESS WEBSITE
Although the best thing to do is to hire a professional and have the website built for you from scratch, to fit your specs, functionality and design, many platforms offer business website builders which you can easily use for your business and get decent results. Let’s see a few:
Google my Business Website
Jimdo Website Builder
Webnode
WIX Website Builder
Now that all of that has been said, it’s left to you to do the right thing for your business, get online and break the business limits, the world is waiting for you.
